Montevideo is one of the most prosperous cities in South America. But just like any nation in the world, it has its share of the world's poor. The percentage of the population that is poor vary from one nation to another, but it cannot be denied that it will not disappear.
Here is a study made out by one of the students of Uruguay and Universidad de la Republica about the poverty status in Montevideo in the 1980s.
